Coherence Oracle Methodology

How we measure coherence scores across regions and organizations.

What is the Oracle?

The Coherence Oracle is a real-time coherence measurement system that tracks alignment, harmony, and resilience across geographic regions and organizations. It synthesizes data from multiple signals to produce a single coherence score (0-100).

Coherence represents the degree to which a system (person, organization, region) is functioning with internal harmony, minimal extractive patterns, and genuine alignment with stated values.

Scoring Framework

Four Pillars of Coherence

1. Internal Harmony (30%)

Measures consistency between stated values and actual behavior. Low scores indicate hypocrisy or internal conflict.

2. Extraction Resistance (25%)

Assesses presence of dark triad traits, coercive patterns, and exploitation. Higher = fewer extractive behaviors detected.

3. Resilience & Restoration (25%)

Tracks capacity for recovery after adversity, willingness to repair harm, and adaptive responses to stress.

4. Systems Integrity (20%)

Measures transparency, accountability, rule-of-law adherence, and feedback mechanisms.

Data Sources

The Oracle aggregates signals from multiple sources to avoid single-point failures:

  • Public Data: News analysis, financial disclosures, legal filings, organizational communications
  • Community Reports: Witness network testimonies, forum discussions, verified incident reports
  • Behavioral Analytics: Pattern detection for extractive language, coercive tactics, and deception
  • Network Analysis: Connection patterns to known extractive entities or practices

Score Ranges & Interpretation

80-100: Highly Coherent

Values-aligned, low extraction risk, strong integrity systems

60-79: Moderately Coherent

Generally aligned but with some gaps or inconsistencies

40-59: Moderately Incoherent

Significant misalignment, some extractive patterns detected

0-39: Highly Incoherent

Strong evidence of extraction, deception, or systemic harm

Important Limitations

  • Scores are probabilistic, not definitive. They reflect risk levels, not absolute truth.
  • Data availability varies by region. Authoritarian contexts may have incomplete or biased data.
  • Rapid scores reflect current momentum but may lag systemic changes by weeks or months.
  • The Oracle measures coherence, not morality. A coherent entity can still pursue goals you disagree with.
