Introduction: An Invitation, Not a Doctrine

Coherence Hub is an open research initiative exploring how regulation, trust, reciprocity, and systems design influence human flourishing.

The framework draws on insights from neuroscience, psychology, organizational behavior, systems thinking, and network science. It is intended as a living model that can be refined through evidence, experimentation, and community contribution—not as a finished doctrine.

This document outlines the current working model. It is not a claim to absolute truth. It is a hypothesis—one that we invite you to test, challenge, and improve.

Core Concepts: A Working Vocabulary

Operational terms describing patterns observed across multiple scales—from individual nervous systems to organizational behavior to institutional design.

Coherence

The degree to which the parts of a system reinforce one another instead of working at cross purposes. Information flows freely, feedback loops function, components align around shared purposes, and resources sustain systemic health.

A measurable property of systems—observable, quantifiable, improvable.

Dysregulation

The breakdown of coherence. Feedback loops break, information distorts, components compete, resources deplete. Not a moral failing—a systems failure that can occur in individuals, teams, organizations, and societies.

Extraction

Relationships or systems that consistently consume value without proportionally restoring it. Often a symptom of dysregulation—not its cause. Concentration of wealth, short-term profit over resilience, attention harvested without clarity.

The Structural Hypothesis

Systems that are regulated, transparent, and reciprocal tend to be more resilient, adaptive, and sustainable than systems that are dysregulated, opaque, and extractive.

This hypothesis is not new. It is supported by research across multiple disciplines. These observations are the foundation of the model—not the model itself.

Neuroscience

Regulated nervous systems are more resilient to stress and recover faster from disruption.

Organizational Psychology

Transparent, trust-based organizations outperform hierarchical, control-based ones over time.

Economics

Reciprocity-based economies are more stable than extraction-based ones.

Network Science

Resilient networks have distributed information flow, not centralized control.

Complexity Theory

Adaptive systems maintain coherence while responding to changing conditions.

The Emergence of Extraction

Extraction patterns have appeared repeatedly across human history. They are not unique to any one civilization, culture, or era.

Ancient Civilizations

Sumer, Egypt, Rome, China—concentration of power, hoarding of resources, exploitation of labor.

Colonial Era

Extraction of resources, labor, and wealth from colonized regions was systemic and structural.

Industrial Revolution

Extraction of labor, energy, and resources was mechanized and scaled.

Information Age

Extraction of attention, data, and identity has become the dominant economic model.

Hypothesis

Extraction is not a moral failing. It is a structural pattern that emerges in systems that become dysregulated.

How Structure Becomes Self-Replicating

Structures persist when they are stable. Extraction is stable because it works—for the extractor.

Extraction is self-replicating—not because it is good, but because it is stable.

Imitation

People copy what works. If extraction works, people extract.

Institutionalization

Extraction becomes encoded in laws, norms, and systems.

Socialization

People are trained to participate in extraction without questioning it.

Evolution

Extraction patterns adapt to survive challenges.

Extraction is ultimately unstable because it consumes its host. Systems that extract indefinitely eventually collapse.

Western Roman Empire

Internal fragmentation, economic extraction, institutional decay

Maya Civilization

Environmental degradation, resource depletion, systemic collapse

Easter Island

Resource extraction, ecosystem collapse, societal breakdown

Research Question: Can systems learn to regulate themselves before collapse becomes inevitable?

The Container Hypothesis

A system built on sovereign identity, verifiable trust, transparent agreements, and continuous improvement may be more resilient to extraction and more capable of sustaining coherence than existing systems.

Testable Predictions

Prediction 1

Systems using the container will show higher levels of trust and reciprocity.

Prediction 2

Systems using the container will show lower levels of extraction and fragmentation.

Prediction 3

Systems using the container will show higher resilience to stress and disruption.

We invite researchers, practitioners, and thoughtful individuals to test, challenge, and improve the model. The questions we are investigating include:

  • ·How can we measure and improve regulation, trust, and reciprocity?
  • ·What structural designs are most resistant to extraction and collapse?

The answers are not yet known. The investigation is open. We welcome all who wish to contribute.
